The village wine of Liechtenstein Winery

Lively fruit with a fresh, salty-mineral character and stimulating length are the expression of our local wine “Herrnbaumgarten”.
The loess soils of the former Danube Delta, rich in dissolved limestone, just north of the Little Carpathian mountains, shape our unique cuvée of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, partly skin-fermented with indigenous yeasts.

Since 2021, all vineyards in Austria have been in conversion to organic farming, and in Vaduz since January 1, 2022. With the 2024 vintage, the first organically certified wines were released.
In addition, techniques from regenerative and biodynamic viticulture have been applied in the vineyards since 2019. These changes—particularly the activation of soil life—enhance the vitality and expressiveness of the wines.

Since 2023, the Liechtenstein Winery has been a member of the renowned Association of Austrian Traditional Wine Estates—a great distinction and recognition of the quality and terroir-driven style of our wines, as well as the work of recent years and decades.

In 2021, in a real effort, two and a half hectares of red wine vines were manually recrafted into Riesling, Grüner Veltliner and Furmint. Selected cuttings are grafted into the trunk of older vines and benefit of the extensive root system. This allows for a harvest of exciting, fresh white grapes from the original red vines from the second year on. The deep roots give our Herrnbaumgarten its inherent freshness and excitement, even in dry years, which make it such a well-sipped wine.
And Princess Marie´s handwriting graces every exciting bottle of Herrnbaumgarten.

Josef Trattner has been working with foam as a material for many years. He realized numerous projects in public spaces using this material.
An essential feature of his work is the superimposition of art-immanent aspects, the relationship between form, color and materiality to the interior and exterior spaces. His ephemeral productions are always social experimental arrangements in which a self-reflective and critical potential is inscribed.
The placing of this bizarre, out of place object in the vineyards seemed to have influenced the character of a whole vintage, making 2021 Herrnbaumgarten an amusing wine to sip and sip…
